Gradsouthwest.com Launches Recruitment Toolkit for Employers
Gradsouthwest.com, part of HERDA-SW’s Graduates for Business Project, has launched a new recruitment toolkit to help employers attract, select and develop graduate talent in South West England.
Each year the pool of talent from Higher Education Institutions in the South West amounts to around 40,000 graduates and postgraduates and the online recruitment toolkit offers practical advice and guidance to enable employers to tap into the talent on their doorstep. Employees are the most valuable asset for any business so getting it right is important. Poor recruitment, selection and development can have financial, business and human costs, which are easy to avoid with a little thought and planning.
The toolkit provides a step by step guide to graduate recruitment, from writing job descriptions and person specifications to salary and equal opportunity considerations. It also highlights the expertise and support available from university careers services. Employers can download and customise a series of templates to help streamline the recruitment process, in the confidence that best practice is being followed.
Graduates have an advanced capacity for learning, bring fresh ideas, are productive and adaptable and make dedicated employees. Recruiting graduates is of huge value to businesses as they aremotivated individuals who are looking to make a positive impact in the workplace.
Once the right graduate has been selected, the toolkit offers advice on performance management and the development of graduate employees. It also features links to other key resources and video case studies of businesses that have successfully recruited and developed graduates to their full potential.
“The recruitment toolkit is aimed at SMEs who may be recruiting a graduate for the first time.
Gradsouthwest.com already offers a fantastic service in matching graduate talent to employment opportunities. The toolkit takes this one stage further in giving potential employers all the tools they need to successfully recruit a graduate and add significant value to their business” says Charlotte Weston the Gradsouthwest.com Project Manager.
