The growth in second homes and the effect of this is one of the biggest current issues in Cornwall. Accurate statistics on their numbers do not exist and local studies are needed to plug this gap and help the Office for National Statistics prepare for the 2011 Census. New work is also needed on the economic and social effects of second homes. The multi-disciplinary team working on this project is ideally placed to progress this."
